Spisska Nova Ves town is one of the very important business and administration centre of Spis district. The first written reference is from 1268 which describe a rising settlement on an significant business route from Iglov town to Villa Nova town.The place soon become an important centre of business, crafts, mining and metallurgy. A lot of interesting points can be found inside but the much-sought-for monument is a Roman Catholic parish church from the middle of 14th century. It has 87 m high tower - the highest one in Slovakia.
